After-school tutoring begins at the D2 Center on Thursday, September 5, 2019. Please join us for assistance in math, reading, and more. See below for details, and please call 402-502-8534 with any questions.

Tutoring Opportunities

  • Certified teachers are available on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. for help with math, English, and many other subject areas. Bring your work from school and get 1:1 help!
  • Contact your YAN (cell phone) or the D2 Center (402-502-8534) prior to the first time you plan to attend.

Math or English Elective Credit Opportunities

  • Math Elective: Students master the fundamentals and beyond by using Khan Academy (online) in a math computer lab setting; a diagnostic test at the beginning of the class allows teachers to differentiate instruction, build on individual math skills, and provide 1:1 assistance.
  • English Elective: Students focus on building reading comprehension and fluency, writing skills, and critical thinking skills; a diagnostic test at the beginning of the course allows teachers to differentiate instruction, build individual reading and writing skills, and provide 1:1 assistance.
  • Students need to call D2 Center Director Greg Emmel (402-502-8534) to enroll in either class. Teachers are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Career Navigator Opportunities

  • Postsecondary and career assistance is available on an “as needed” basis. Normal office hours for the Career Navigator are Thursdays from 2 to 5 p.m., but individual appointments can be made by contacting John Moore at 402-578-7148 or Bette Norton Ball at 402-679-6468.
  • The Career Navigator is available to assist any D2 Center student or graduate with a variety of career and postsecondary options including: career exploration, identifying educational and training pathways, postsecondary planning and engagement (FAFSA, applying to college, scholarships, entrance exams, etc.), resume writing, job searches and applications, mock interviews, preparation for job fairs, and other job or career-related skills and strategies.

*Classes and tutoring start on Thursday, September 5 and continue through the end of the school year on Tuesdays and Thursdays when school is in session. Classes are for elective credit and require a minimum of 45 hours of class time and the successful completion of all assignments and tests.
