What’s your role at the D2 Center?

Career & Community Engagement Project Coordinator

How long have you worked at the D2 Center?

I’m brand new, so just under a month!

Tell me about your education.

I graduated from Central high school and received my Bachelor’s degree in International Business and French from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

What is your professional background?

While earning my BA, I worked for Omaha Area Health Education Center (AHEC) as an Education Coordinator conducting workshops and job shadowing experiences for high school students. I left AHEC to study French language and culture. After graduation, I worked as a Program Director for the South YMCA managing staff and creating programs for the community. I co-led the YMCA’s Teen Committee and oversaw several partnerships with other organizations.

Why were you interested in working at the D2 Center?

Being able to provide disengaged youth with opportunities to re-connect and get involved with their future goals is exciting and challenging, but can also be rewarding to all who are involved in the process.
Working with the D2 Center staff and students is a perfect opportunity for me to use my skills mapping out specific paths for each student’s unique needs.

What’s your favorite thing about working at the D2 Center?

Having the opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life is priceless. I hope to be a positive inspiration for youth in our programs.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I enjoy all things France! I give tutor lessons in French language/culture twice a week. I enjoy yoga, cooking vegan delights and walking my dogs. From time to time, you may catch me out singing with a band as well!
