Rennie Center Case Study – Forgotten Youth: Re-Engaging Students Through Dropout Recovery

The Rennie Center has published a case study about Massachusetts’ efforts to reconnect out-of-school youth. Called Forgotten Youth: Re-Engaging Students Through Dropout Recovery, the case study focuses on the Boston Re-engagement Center, which co-director Greg Emmel and I visited almost a year ago as part of our involvement with the National League of Cities Dropout Re-engagement Network. This network brings together staff from re-engagement centers across the U.S. to share experience and best practices.

This is a great opportunity to learn more about health careers and how to save a life — plus, students can earn hours towards a Careers & Community Engagement Program elective credit. Building Bright Futures and IBM KidSmart Early Learning Grant Program

Representatives from our parent organization, Building Bright Futures, our partners at BBF Early Childhood Services, Omaha Mayor Jim Suttle and staff, IBM, Good360, and Mainfreight Inc. volunteered on October 20, 2012 to assemble twenty IBM Young Explorer computers. These computers will be distributed to Building Bright Futures Early Childhood Services member childcare centers in north and south Omaha. These computers will help some of Omaha’s youngest learners get a head start on their future educational success. It’s great to see organizations come together to make a difference in Omaha!
