by | Feb 26, 2013 | Career Experience Workshops, Career Navigator Program, Events, General

March 2013 is a busy month for the D2 Center Careers & Community Engagement (C & CE) Program. Students who participate in C & CE explore all sorts of careers in a hands-on way, receive one-on-one instruction on job skills and self awareness, PLUS have the opportunity to earn hours towards an elective credit. Check out some of our upcoming events:

— Tuesday & Wednesday, March 5 & 6, 2013: University of Omaha Career Fair. Learn about STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math), Business, Health/Wellness, Government, Human/Social Services, and Liberal Arts career opportunities in the metro area.

— Tuesday, March 12, 2013: Screening of “The Josh Jones Story” at Midtown Crossing Cinema. Jones, an Omaha Central High School and Creighton basketball star, was forced to retire from basketball at age 23 because of a heart condition. How does he deal with the many challenges in his life? This documentary explores that question. See the trailer on YouTube.

— Thursday March 28, 2013: Architectural Engineering & Design Exploring Post at Peter Kiewit Institute through the Exploring Program. “Explore the fields of architectural engineering, construction engineering and construction management at the Peter Kiewit Institute (PKI). Receive a tour of the college, meet with professors and students and have fun with mock projects, structural lighting, electrical and mechanical acoustics.” The Post continues weekly on April 4, 11, 18 and 25.

— Saturday, March 30, 2013: Self Awareness Improv Workshop with Will Meinen, improv extraordinaire. Students will explore their strengths, learn what it means to be self-sufficient, and how to interact with others, using multiple types of communication techniques, improvisational exercises and more.
