Dropout Re-engagement Network Meeting, Los Angeles, CA, Dec. 11-13, 2013

In mid-December, D2 Center co-director Greg Emmel, YAN Alberto Gonzales, Jerry Bexten from The Sherwood Foundation and I attended the annual Dropout Re-engagement Network meeting, the “Re-engagement Plus Convening,” in Los Angeles. This is the third such conference Greg and I have attended, and the number of attendees has grown every year – this time there were about 150 attendees.

Martin Luther King Day of Service with UNO, Mon. Jan. 20, 2014

We’re pleased to offer students the opportunity to help our community and earn hours toward a Careers & Community Engagement Program elective credit. The University of Nebraska-Omaha Office of Civic and Social Responsibility will facilitate their annual Martin Luther King Day of Service activities for service learning and volunteer opportunities on Monday, January 20th. Students will meet at North High no later than 8:30 AM and catch a bus to the different volunteer sites available. They will return to North High at 1 PM for a FREE lunch and a brief presentation, then dismissed at 2 PM.
